Current Closures
I-84 Ramp Closure: I-84 Off-Ramp to NE Holladay St
Purpose: I-84 off-ramp to NE Holladay St will be closed to vehicles due to work on foundations for a new I-5 sign structure
Where: I-84 off-ramp to NE Holladay St near the Oregon Convention Center and Moda Center
Closure Details:
- The closure will begin on Friday, May 15 at 10:00 P.M.
- The closure will remain in place 24 hours, 7 days a week through Monday, June 8 at 5:00 A.M.
Detours Required:
- Access from I-84 to I-5 northbound will remain open
- Vehicles will be detoured to I-5 Exit 302A to NE Weidler St

Intermittent Overnight Closures: I-5 Southbound Right Lane and Ramps
Purpose: The right lane of I-5 southbound and ramps to I-84 and Morrison Bridge will close overnight intermittently over the next two weeks between the Moda Center and Morrison Bridge exit for upgrades to the bridge railing.
Where:
- I-5 southbound right lane between Oregon Convention Center and Morrison Bridge
- I-5 southbound ramp to I-84 eastbound
- I-5 southbound ramp to Morrison Bridge/OMSI
Closure Details:
- Intermittent closures will take place between 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
- I-5 southbound right lane between Moda Center and Morrison Bridge will be closed nights of May 13, 18, 19, 20, 21, and 22
- I-5 southbound ramp to I-84 eastbound (Exit 301) will be closed nights of May 13, 15, 18, and 19*
- I-5 southbound ramp to Morrison Bridge/OMSI (Exit 300B) will be closed nights of May 13, 18, 19, and 20*
*Ramp closures are weather dependent.
Detours Required:
- Travelers heading south on I-5 will be able to use the open lane.
- Travelers on I-5 southbound trying to reach I-84 eastbound or the Morrison Bridge will be detoured to I-405 southbound.
- Access from I-84 westbound to the Morrison Bridge will be open.

Local Street Closure: NE Lloyd Boulevard
Purpose: Both directions of NE Lloyd Boulevard will be closed to vehicles for I-5 repair work, earthquake readiness upgrades and foundation work.
Where: NE Lloyd Boulevard between NE 1st Street and NE Oregon Street.
Closure Details:
- The closure will begin on Sunday, March 22 at 10:00 p.m. and continue for approximately 90 days.
Detours Required:
- Vehicles will be required to detour. Detour routes will be clearly signed.
- Access to the Oregon Convention Center along Lloyd Boulevard from the east and along NE 1st Avenue will be maintained.
- Pedestrians and bicyclists will be able to pass through using the wide sidewalk along the southbound lane.

Major Closures Coming Summer and Fall 2026
I-5 Northbound and Southbound Closure: July 11-12, 2026*
14-Hour Full Closure
- All lanes of I-5 northbound and southbound will be closed overnight for up to 14 hours from 10 p.m. on Saturday, July 11 to noon on Sunday, July 12.*
- The detour for I-5 travel in both directions will be I-405.
- During the closure, crews will remove an existing sign structure and install a new sign structure (the “sign bridge”) near the Oregon Convention Center.

I-5 Southbound Closure Beginning September 11, 2026
24 hours, 7 days a week for up to 5 weeks
Plan ahead. Significant delays and unpredictable travel times are expected.
- Crews will repair and reinforce weak areas, replace bridge joints, repave the surface and repaint lane lines on the highway.
- Travel times may take two to three times longer than usual.
- Congestion could back up across the Columbia River into Washington and onto local streets in the Portland area.
- The highway will reopen as soon as the work is complete.
Drivers can expect:
- I-5 southbound to be closed between I-405 and I-84.
- I-5 southbound travel to be detoured to I-405 southbound. Regional traffic to be directed to I-205.
- One lane to the Broadway/Weidler exit to remain open for local and event center access.
- On-ramps from Greeley, I-405 northbound/Fremont Bridge and the Moda Center to I-5 southbound to be closed.
- I-5 southbound ramp to I-84 eastbound to be closed.
- I-84 westbound to I-5 southbound to remain open.
- I-5 northbound to remain open.
