Visit one of Portland’s original “shop local” districts every August for the Hawthorne Street Fair. You can explore over 200 businesses while enjoying Vendors, Food, Music and Entertainment in a car-free zone from SE Cesar Chavez to SE 30th Avenue on Hawthorne.
During the event, the project team will host an information booth where community members can learn about upcoming traffic closures and detour routes.

The Beaverton Community Expo is a free community event hosted by the Beaverton Area Chamber of Commerce that brings together local businesses, organizations, and community members at City Fountain Park to showcase products, services, and resources while fostering connections within the Beaverton community.

Vancouver's Pride Block Party

The I-5 Rose Quarter Improvement Project team participated in Vancouver's Pride Block Party. 2026 marked the 32nd anniversary of Vancouver, Washington’s Pride in the Park — the city’s original pride event, formally known as “Saturday in the Park.” This event, in addition to being the longest-running LGBTQ+ pride celebration in Southwestern Washington, is a celebration of life, a gathering of joy, and a place to discover support and friends.

N Mississippi Ave Street Fair
July 11, 2026
The I-5 Rose Quarter Improvement Project team participated in the N Mississippi Ave Street Fair. Every summer, North Mississippi Avenue in Portland, OR closes to traffic and transforms into Portland's largest street fair. This is a day-long celebration of community, creativity, and culture that draws thousands to the neighborhood.
During the event, the project team hosted an information booth where community members learned about upcoming traffic closures and detour routes.

The I-5 Rose Quarter Improvement Project team participated in the Good in the Hood celebration at Lillis-Albina Park. Held annually on the last weekend of June, this two-day festival is the largest event of its kind in the Pacific Northwest, bringing together communities to celebrate culture, diversity, and connection.
During the event, the project team hosted an information booth where community members can learn about upcoming traffic closures, closure schedules and detour routes, project updates, opportunities for community engagement, and register for construction alert notifications.

Details: The MLK Dream Run brings together runners and spectators over two days to celebrate the North/Northeast Portland community and empower the next generation of entrepreneurs. The event benefits the Soul Business District Association youth entrepreneur career leadership program. This year's theme is "Eyes on the Prize - Mission Achievable," which represents a time of action, rebirth and realizing plans. I-5 Rose Quarter Improvement Project staff will be there to hand out information, talk about the project and answer community questions.

Junction Ave. - A Black Business Pop Up

Details: I-5 Rose Quarter Improvement Project staff participated in Self Enhancement Inc.'s Junction Avenue business pop-up event for local Black vendors, entrepreneurs and businesses. This family-friendly event hosted a DJ, an arts and crafts corner for kids and many unique and fun booths. Attendees shopped some of Portland's favorite Black-owned businesses and stopped by our table to learn about what's ahead for the project in 2023, related job opportunities and restorative justice efforts being made for the historic Albina neighborhood.

Details: The I-5 Rose Quarter Improvement Project team had a presence at the Word is Bond 5K community walk through the historic Albina community. During the walk, attendees learned about Portland history and heard from various guest speakers. Project staff were available throughout the walk to share information about the project, respond to questions and offer the opportunity to take the Summer Design Survey seeking feedback on design elements for walls and bridges in the project area.
