Closures expected on I-5 and Local Streets in July
Both directions of I-5 to close overnight in the Rose Quarter July 11-12
All lanes of Interstate 5 northbound and southbound in the Rose Quarter will close overnight for up to 14 hours to install a new overhead sign structure near the Oregon Convention Center.
The closure will last from 10 p.m. Saturday, July 11, to as late as noon on Sunday, July 12. Plan ahead, expect delays in the area, and allow extra time for your trips that weekend.
This work is part of planned improvements to I-5 and will support a future extended merging lane. As we change the lane configuration, signs need to line up with the new lane lines. The new signs on the structure will be larger with refreshed reflective lettering, improving visibility and safety. Crews have been visible for weeks in the work area installing the structure’s support columns.

Expect closures on local streets in July
There will be closures at N Williams Avenue and NE Oregon Street during the week of July 6. Vehicle detours will be required. Detour routes will be clearly signed. Pedestrians and bicyclists will be able to pass through.
TriMet buses using these local streets will be detoured around these closures and may use temporary stops. Contact TriMet at 503-238-Ride or visit their Alerts page for more information.
These closures will help crews prepare for overhead sign structure installation later in the month. Visit our Construction Travel Impacts page or sign up for text alerts to stay up to date with the latest news on traffic impacts and active closures.
