Construction Travel Impacts
Intermittent Overnight Closures: I-5 Southbound Left Lane
Purpose: Intermittent overnight lane closures for work in the median. Crews will be reinforcing the bridge deck to support taller barriers.
Where: I-5 southbound left lane between the Oregon Convention Center and Burnside Bridge (between Exit 301 and Exit 300B)
Closure Details:
- The work will require intermittent closures on weeknights from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Closures are weather dependent.
- No detours required: Drivers traveling in either direction will be able to use the open lane.
Travelers can expect:
- Phase 1A Local Road & Ramp Closures
- I-5 Stormwater Single Lane Closures
- I-5 Merge Lane and Bridge Work
- Temporary sidewalk and lane closures on local streets near the Oregon Convention Center, including NE Oregon Street and N Interstate Ave, for seismic upgrades and sign structure work.
- Occasional closures of the I-84 westbound off-ramp to Moda Center and the Oregon Convention Center for sign structure work.
- Temporary sidewalk and lane closures on NE Lloyd Blvd for seismic upgrades.
- Occasional nighttime lane closures and possible shoulder closures on I-5 to construct stormwater facilities.
- More traffic impacts are expected in 2026 when bridge preservation, merge lane extension, and sign structure installation work begins.
